Noah's ArK Trip [Jun. 8th, 2007|03:22 pm]
I am planning a Noah's Ark trip on Thursday, July 5th, as of right now.  I'm pretty sure that date won't change, but if it does, it'll only change to Friday the 6th.  I would like people to come along for the trip if they can make it.  Currently, the people that are going are: myself, Cortney, Evan, and Steve (at least Evan said Steve is going, I haven't actually talked with him).  If people can make it, awesome!  If not, I'm sorry.  I want people to come, but I don't want to go back and forth changing the date in an attempt to get more people to come.  I might go a couple more times over the summer if possible, or people can plan other trips.

Again, Thursday, July 5th! Come to Noah's Ark and have a good time.  If people want, I can probably take my van up to fit more people and then leave cars at my house for the day.  Also, depending on how many people are going, I was thinking of just bringing a cooler full of food and having everyone throw in for it.

Let me know if you can go by either giving me a call on my cell or responding back here.  Hope people can make it.

$.002 == .002ยข [Dec. 13th, 2006|03:09 am]

This is a really funny piece of audio between a guy calling into Verzion and complaning about his phone bill.  Yes, it sounds boring.  Yes, it's 23 minutes long.  But it's REALLY funny.  At least to me.  The Verzion people just don't get it, and that's what's so funny about it.  If you have the time, listen.....and check your interent bills.

I wish I had a PS3 [Nov. 21st, 2006|11:03 am]
Not to play, because there are no good games that I want to play on it right now. The only reason I want a PS3 is this:

Concert Lineup for December [Oct. 23rd, 2006|12:58 am]

I was driving home from a friends place after my usual lockin activities Saturday night at around 4:45am, and was listening to 102.1 because I had no good CD's in the car to listen to. After a song was over, the DJ comes back on and says something about a "Ticket Time-Bomb Weekend" for a chance to win tickets to see some bands, so be caller 12 and <insert some stuff here I didn't listen to>. At first I didn't really care, because the bands would probably be stupid. Then I hear it's Distrubed and Stone Sour up in Madison the the Music as a Weapon tour. Hmm...ok..so the bands arn't bad. I decided to try since it was almost 5am, and figured I'd have a shot. It first off took forever to get my phone out of my pocket while driving and call the station number. However, I eventually did. Busy. Ok, I'll try again. Busy. One more time! Busy. Ok, I'd probably lost the chance for the tickets, but, what the hell. It's late, and I have nothing else to do because some new shit is on the radio I don't want to listen to. Last try!! It's ringing! Here's the conversation that took place:

DJ: "Hello?"
Me: "Yeah, I'm calling about the ticket time-bomb weekend...thing?"
DJ: "Oh, that's over, the tickets were already given away"
Me: "Oh, oh well, that's cool"
DJ: "Actually your caller 12, so you won the tickets!"
Me: "......oh....OH! Awesome!"

The rest of the conversation was to get my name and everything to pick up the tickets. It was mostly funny because I was half asleep, having a really bad allergy attack, and not expecting to win; which made for me sounding really out of it and not like myself on the radio. Either way, I won tickets for Distrubed and Stone Sour for December 22nd.

That's the first show. Then Cortney's parents got themselves, Cortney's sister, Cortney and I tickets for Trans-Siberian Orchestra on December 28th. That will be really fun, as I haven't seen them before.

I also got tickets a while ago for the Cake show on New Years Eve. There will be a ballon drop, of course, CAKE!, and some other show things going on for the night.

That puts about 3 awesome show, plus Christmas, plus New Years, all within 2 weeks of eachother. I'm really looking forward to it.

To Evan [Oct. 4th, 2006|02:07 am]
Evan, now that your hopefully more settled in your new appartment, when would you like to get together to teach me some things on Flash??  I've been forgetting to call you about that, which is why I'm just posting this.  I'm pretty much free on Friday's before, lets say, 4 and then the weekends as long as I don't have to work.  If I do, it's never too long and can hang out before/after when I would have to work.  Just wondering what would work best for you, cause I'd really like to get learnin' the Flash soon!  I guess just reply back here, or give me a call and hopefully I'll be there to answer (if i'm not in class or at work).

Stupid Tuesday's [Sep. 21st, 2006|09:27 am]
So, Tool was playing in Madison on Tuesday.  Dan won tickets to the show earlier in the month, and I took off work for the show.  Tuesday actually rolled around, Cortney and I were all set to go to school, get home, grab some food, and then head up to Madison for the show.  But wait!!  When I called Dan to grab the tickets from him at school during the day, he said that the show had been cancelled because the singer had a sore throat.  Awesome.  Well, it sucks, but it's not all that bad cause I have off of work still.  Wait again!!  I got a call from my full-time manager (kinda my boss but not really) saying that he was listening to the radio and heard my show had gotten cancelled.  I could see where this is going.  So I ended up going to work and getting my day off back to use another time.  Really sucked not going to the show, and even more to actually have to go into work.  Stupid Tuesday.

Birthday Cards [Sep. 7th, 2006|10:56 am]
Stolen from another site!

Amazing Find in a Crate of Birthday Cards
The birthday cards, all dating from the 18th century, were packed in a crate that was removed from a library in Weimar, Germany just before it was devastated by a fire last September. Now researchers have meticulously sorted through those cards and found something quite extraordinary: a previously unknown composition by Johann Sebastian Bach.

The Associated Press reports that the work for soprano and string or keyboard accompaniment was composed for a German duke's birthday when Bach was 28 years old and served as the duke's court organist. The composition, which is dated October 1713, is the first new music Bach to be found in three decades. There is no doubt about the authenticity of the handwritten, two-page score that was found by Michael Maul from the Bach Archiv Foundation. "It is no major composition, but an occasional work in the form of an exquisite and highly refined strophic aria, Bach's only contribution to a musical genre popular in late 17th-century Germany," Christoph Wolff, the foundation's director and a professor at Harvard University, told AP. These are the oldest handwritten music scripts of Bach.

The crate of antique birthday cards, all of which were given in honor of the German duke's 52nd birthday by various officials and clerics, was stored in the Duchess Anna Amalia Library, and was removed for restoration. Soon after, the library caught fire, and the room in which the crate had been stored was completely destroyed. "Otherwise the work would have been consumed by the flames and we would never have known of its existence," Wolff said. English conductor Sir John Eliot Gardiner is preparing to record the newly found composition, reports AP.

I have two thoughts on this.  One being that it would be pretty cool to find something like that.  The second that all of the "new IIDX / DDR songs" jokes on bemanistyle are hilarious, and awesome.  Either way, still pretty cool.

The Wookie is in the Kitchen [Aug. 20th, 2006|11:02 pm]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9LDHllsstM

Randomly funny video I came across.  Check it out.

School is starting soon.  Really don't care about it, just want to get school over and done with as soon as possible.  I think quitting UPS will help that, as I will have more time to study and not be working during all of my free time.  So hopefully once I learn Flash I can quit UPS shortly after.  Then I can move out, be closer to school, and get school over with.  Hopefully.  We'll see how things play out.

Amped 3 [Jul. 13th, 2006|06:41 am]
[Current Location |F]

Finally finished Amped 3.  In total, it wasn't too long of a game.  I think I have a little less than 18 hours put into it.  All except 1 of 15 achievements have been unlocked, which wasn't too hard.  Just took a lot of re-trying certain challenges over and over and over....and in some cases....even longer.  It was a good game though.  I still have the two player challenges that I'd like to unlock.  Although that requires a second player, and Cortney isn't too good at the game, lol.  But that's cause she doesn't play it everyday.  Jen and Andy will be coming back soon, I think, so I'll probably just make Andy beat them with me.

Now I guess I'll turn my attention to Kameo or Digital Devil Saga II, cause I finally got around to picking it up.  I also need to go pickup South Park Seasons 6 and 7, plus Pretender Season 4 is out this week I think; so that'll give me some more to watch.  Then I have to play catchup with the Simpsons and Aqua Teen.  Won't be too long though.

Video Games at Circuit City for 8.95 [Jun. 29th, 2006|01:42 am]
So if people haven't heard about this yet, Circuit City is going to be selling games the 4th of July week for $8.95 (I think, or right around there.  I know it's basically $9).  This includes Xbox, PS2, Cube, Advance, and DS.  I don't have the link for the complete games anymore, but it's actually pretty big and has some good titles on it.  I'm hopefully going to pick up Final Fantasy I & II, Sword of Mana, and Tales of Phantasia (for GBA).  PS2 their's 3 or so RPG's and some random other stuff.

Either way, $8.95 for a new game is pretty sweet.  I went to the Circuit City by my hosue today, and they said they've started to put games "aside / in back" for the sale so they will actually have most of the titles in.  The sale actually starts Sunday, and not on the 4th (Tuesday).  I plan on getting there when they open as to hopefully get the games I'm looking for.  Looks like it'll be a busy summer playing all the new stuff   ^__^

My job is stupid [Jun. 6th, 2006|03:22 am]
To start off the story of why my job is gay, I need to start with my my girlfriend is amazing. I complain about how I want to do 50 million things to my car, and I never get around to doing ANY of them. (which btw, for those who don't know (although most should) I have an 05' Lancer). She listens to most of my rambling, but never thought she listened to what I was saying.  Turns out she does.  Our 2 year anniversary is on the 27th, which 1. doesn't seem like it's been 2 years, and 2. is awesome that we're still happy with eachother after those 2 years.  So anyway, she ordered my present, and told me I have to come over and get it because it's too big to keep at her house.  What the hell did she order?!  I go over, and there are 4 boxes in her family room.  2 really big ones, and 2 smaller ones.  I open the bigger ones, and here is what they are:

http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-5006790027353_1901_25709556

Yeah, they're awesome.  Super comfortable, and pretty much exactly what I would have ordered if I would have ever gotten around to ordering new seats.  This is why Cortney is amazing.

Anyway, back to why my job is stupid.  Turns out, that one seat is broke (the little circular cylindar thing on the side of the seat), and the other the leather is ripped on the top of the seat and missing a screw.  Awesome, go UPS.  It's funny cause I pretty much know exactly how this happened by looking at the condition of the boxes.  This is why I don't like shipping crap.  This is why my job at UPS is stupid.

Memorial Day Weekend [May. 31st, 2006|11:51 pm]
Had a fun memorial day weekend. First off, parents went up north somewhere, so had the house to myself. Was nice to be up at 3am and not get yelled at for being loud. Friday went to a lockin at Aladdins Castle. Was fun cause we stayed out after it closed at 3 and kicked a ball around til 5am. Saw "Over the Hedge" Saturday before work, then hung out with the RPG group at Justin's appartment after work at Gamestop. Played nerdy games, which was a lot of fun. Sunday went over to the Stemms for a BBQ and more hanging out. Had lots of fun seeing people, and Zac was back in town, so that was cool. Monday Cortney and I were going to go to the mall, but realized it was closed cause of the holiday. So we were sitting at my house for about 30 minutes, and Chad called to go to Rob's lake house. So we went over there and hung out for the rest of the day. Went boating, had another BBQ, and then went back out on the lake for some tubing. It was fun, just a little cold at first. Had a really busy awesome weekend, and am still sore from it.

My DJ so good [May. 17th, 2006|04:26 pm]
It's almost summer, finally. One more exam tomorrow in my CS317. Shouldn't be hard, cause everything in that class I have gotten an A on. Then comes lots of doing nothing, and working.

My pop'n controller is acting really weird. Stupid misses for no reason, might be the mircoswitches or the circuit board in it. I might just get a new one.

Have IIDX Red, just need to burn it off. That and Guitar Freaks V / Drummania V. That should keep me busy over the summer as well.

Cortney had her knee surgery, and that went well. She was really out of it when I got back to the hospital after my exam today. Now I know what I looked like after my ankle surgery.

ACen 2006 [May. 7th, 2006|11:41 pm]
[Current Music |Pop 'n Music 12 Iroha]

Back finally from ACen 2006. Was better than last year, and had tons of fun. Most of the con was spent playing Pop n' Music, which is what I was looking forward to doing. Got to meet some people off Bemanistyle (ben and alex), and hang out with the pop'n crowd for the con. Also hung out with JT for a lot of the con, which I enjoyed catching up with him. Did some shopping and picked up Pop'n 2 and 5, Super Puzzle Fighter 2, and an Eva capsule set. Too many jokes were made that I can't remember unfortunatly, because I would love to post a quote log. Most of the were "you had to be there" jokes, but nevertheless, HI-larious. Right now i'm just looking forward to sleeping in a bed tonight, and not a floor. Last comment is I have about 3 or 4 pop'n songs stuck in my head. Right now it's Space Dog, sweet.

Final Fantasy 12 [Mar. 16th, 2006|10:31 pm]
Okay, so Final Fantasy XII is very sweet. However, I have no clue what's going on, so I'll be glad once it's in english. The intro movie is extremely pretty, and that's about all that I got to try out. I got to some point about training, and had no idea what to do to pass it. I got to also try out a couple rounds of the battle during it, and it was pretty different and fun. That's it for now.

New video games [Mar. 14th, 2006|12:51 am]
I finally got my Sega Genesis, Sega CD, and 32X in the mail today. Got it off ebay, and it sold with 55 games, along with 4 controllers and a light gun. It's sweet. I'll probably head down to the old "Take 2" (not called that anymore) and see if I can come across anything good. I need to find "Adventures in the Magic Kingdom" too for NES, cause that game was really good. Plus i've been wanting to play it recently for some reason. I guess I'll see what good NES, and why not, SNES games they have there too. I should hopefully be getting "Breath of Fire 2" and "Ogre Battle" sometime this week too. Assuming Kenny takes the trade I offered him. Then I'm only missing about 4 more SNES RPG's, and the collection is complete!

On another note of video gaming, I bought a 360 last week. Now I know what most of you are thinking that know me, what the hell Jay, you bought an xbox? Yes, I did, when it's used and I get 15% off it. So it's a 360 for only $230. I got Kameo right away with it, and then ordered Amped 3 for $40. Better than the $60 is was selling for in stores. Both games are really good, and i'll probably be playing them for a while since there's nothing else I want for the system at this moment.

This next week is also going to be really good for releases. Katamari on PSP, Tetris on DS, and Beatmania for PS2 all come out the same week. Lots of playing to do. Glad I can take two of those to school with me and play during downtime.

My collection of video games is almost complete, at least for the systems. Only have to get an Atari 2600, 7800, Sega Master System, 3DO, Sega Saturn, and an orginial xbox. I think that's most of the major systems. I'll come across a Neo Geo eventually, but it's not on the "high priority" list. I think a 2600 will be the next system to get, cause that's what I grew up on. I still need to see if Dan has the Saturn. Dan, you still have it? If not, I think "Take 2" had some for cheap. I guess I'll see tomorrow.

TDS Metrocom sucks [Mar. 9th, 2006|03:45 am]
Yeah, so it's 3:45 in the morning and i'm at school on the internet. Why, you might ask, am I not at home, using one of my many computers? Well, that is because the damn internet isn't working, again! Wasn't working last night, or some other time this week. It's great that your internet goes down more than 3 times (so far) per week. It's also great that my programming assignment is due tomorrow, or rather today, which is why i'm here right now. Can't do programming online when you don't HAVE the online-ness. I hate that company, with a passion, like Jesus had, for McDonalds.

Convention Forcast for 2006 [Feb. 9th, 2006|11:22 pm]
This year should be a kickass year for conventions. Most of the plans are already done for them too, which makes me even more excitied about them.

-----------------
Convention #1 - Anime Central
-----------------
Place - Rosemont, IL
Dates - May 5th - 7th

I just made the hotel reservation yesterday for acen, and I think I got one of the last rooms in the Hyatt. So far only Rob and myself are in the room, but I'm sure I can find more people to fill it up. It'll be nice to actually HAVE a room this year, unlike pervious years were I would sleep in the game room for 2 hours, move somewhere else for 2 hours, bum in someones room for a night, etc. Now I'll be able to have a bed to sleep on. Plus going with Rob to an anime convention is a sure way to cause mass-HI-larity and sillyness. It's also nice cause the convention starts on a Friday, and I have no school on Friday. All I have to do is use a personal day at work, and I can attend all three day in FULL for a change.

-----------------
Convention #2 - E3 Expo
-----------------
Place - Los Angeles, CA
Dates - May 10th - 12th

Finally going to E3! What's even better is I leave the 9th, which is only 2 days after I get back from ACen. Of course I'll be flying out, so I have to save for a plane ticket. On the upside that's the only real thing I'm going to have to pay for for the whole convention, besides random food if I want it. I'm getting the badge, "room", and food all free thanks to Kenny. The "room" is really his parents place, which is about a 5 - 10 minute bus ride to the Convention Center. Since we'll be staying at his parents place, they said they'd buy us food. Sweet, free food. The badge will also be free, cause Kenny writes for IGN, and as long as I do a review on a game I can get a badge for free. I'll have to use a week of vacation at work for this, but it's E3, so it doesn't matter. I, of course, will be taking mass amounts of pictures there, so I'll probably get a 1 or 2 gb SD flash card for the camera since they're pretty cheap now. I can't wait for this convention, cause it's E3! EVERYONE who's EVERYONE will be at this thing, so it'll be fun to walk around and see all the pretty things they have there.

-----------------
Convention #3 - GenCon
-----------------
Place - Indianapolis, IN
Dates - August 10th - 13th

The standard, but always an awesome time, convention that I go to every year. Last year was good, but this year could be even better. Hotel last year - Hampton Inn. I'm not complaning, for the price and location, a really good hotel. (Plus they had an awesome breakfast). Hotel this year - Marriott Downtown. Even better, cause it has a SKYWALK to the convention center! If the anime room is in the Marriott again, I'll NEVER had to go outside. I usually just eat at the convention center, cause I've found cheap places around there. Or go to the mall for the food court, but that is also connected to the convention center via skywalk. So by the transitive probably, the Marriott is connected to the Mall via skywalk. That that mathematics. The hotel also won't be much more expensive than the Hampton Inn from last year cause Kenny's parents are VIP members, so we got a good rate. Don't remember what it is, but with 5 of us currently in the room; and possibly more going; it shouldn't be much more than $100-something. The drive down should also be a good time, because it'll be 5 nerds in a van for 6 hours. Last year was really funny, cause Raleigh kept yelling at people out of the window during rush-hour traffic jams in Chicago. Ensue Hilarity. The badge will also be free for GenCon, and be a Press or Exhibitor badge thanks to the hook-up from Kenny. Apparently there is also a room that you can go to with this badge where they have soda/water/food(bagels and such) for free. Sweet, more free food. JT is also back from Japan now, so I'll be able to meet up with him and see how that whole year went. I can also leave stuff in the anime room by the Hades staff too again, thanks to the return of JT. Yay for being lazy and not wanting to carry stuff! But it's always fun to hang out with them, as the anime room provides 90% of my entertainment for the convention.

That's the three conventions so far. Don't know if I'm going to go to anymore, since I probably won't have anymore time to take off of work with vacations. I could probably go to Anime Reactor, assuming it isn't uber-gay like last year. Not that I went, but from other people's reports, everyone started leaving early on day 2 of a 3 day convention. Not good. Maybe something else is close that I can go to for a weekend. We'll see. For now, this should be the best year for conventions yet.
